PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MATERIALS
A. Project design is based on materials and systems of Ceilings Plus, Los Angeles, CA 800-822-3411, www.ceilingsplus.com.
Any proposed substitution must meet all requirements of this specification.
2.02 LINEAR WOOD CEILING PANELS
A. Linear Panels, "MIRRA" by Ceilings Plus with Sarante Laminated Finish.
1.Panel Construction: The ceiling panels are to be die formed from a single sheet of primed aluminum and laminated face. No indentations, marks or defacing of the exposed surface of the wood ceiling panel will be allowed. The primed porous aluminum panels shall be formed in adequate thickness and factory formed to specified dimensions.
2. The ceiling panels are to be brake-formed from a single sheet. The panel edges shall be minimum 1-1/16" return edge on panel sides. Objectionable deflection will not be tolerated. No indentations, marks or defacing of the exposed surface of the metal ceiling panel will be allowed.
3. Adhesion: The adhesion shall be formaldehyde free with a cross linked emulsion . The primed aluminum properties shall included, high shear strength, with adhesion levels greater than 8lbs per square inch.
4. Laminate : All exposed surfaces shall be of the laminate veneer, .006. Grain dimensional texture shall be as selected by the architect. Laminate veneer and adhesives shall meet ASTM E84 Class I with Underwriters Listing UL. The laminate to be dimensionally stable .3 max. Chemically resistant to NEMA Standard 11-14-95. Abrasion resistant to meet ASTM-D1044.
5. Perforations. (Optional) Perforations per architect selection. Panels to have a solid margin, non perforated, on all sides.
6. Sound absorbing material. (Optional) to be a gray, black or white, non-woven fabric with Class 1 fire rating. Perforated panels with absorbing material to achieve an N.R.C. of .70-.80 minimum.
7. No fasteners of any kind shall be visible on exposed face surfaces of ceiling panels or support tees.
2.03 SUPPORTING GRID
A. Supporting grid system shall consist of factory formed channel in adequate thickness, to support loads. Channel shall be factory slotted to accept panel attachment. Finish all surfaces of channel with black thermo-setting paint.
B. Ceiling suspension shall meet structural requirements as required in ASTM 635, ASTM 636, heavy duty direct hung ceilings.
C. Hanger attachments shall be 12 ga. pre-straightened steel wires, rods or other approved hanging device that will support required loads.
D. Tolerances: Maximum deviation of ceiling panels from edge to edge in width shall not exceed 1/8" in 10' when measured with a straightedge placed at any directional location on the finished surfaces. Maximum deviation shall not exceed 1/4" from level in any area or room.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 INSPECTION
A. General Installation:
1. Materials shall be installed in strict accordance with procedures recommended by the manufacturer and requirements of agencies having jurisdiction. All materials for this section shall be from a single source ceiling manufacturer with minimum 5 years experience with products of the nature specified.
2. Attach supporting channels of adequate strength to construction above by approved connection method according to local building codes.
3. The contractor responsible for the work of this section shall be qualified and experienced in performance of this work and done so for no less than a period of 5 years.
B. Product Handling
1. Delivery: Deliver metal ceiling components to job site in unopened containers identified with product manufacturer's name, trade name and other applicable identification.
2. Storage: Storage: Store and install material in areas with a relative humidity not exceed-55% and a temperature range of 65 - 75 degrees F. Store away from direct sunlight. Install when space is completely conditioned, clean and free of airborne particles.
