System Grillz™ is a modular wood grille panel consisting of precision, factory detailed wood rails connected with dowels spaced 12" on center. An optional back-slat brace design is available. The panels may be both in ceiling and wall applications. A variety of perimeter and transition details are available with the Grillz™ system. The panels are interlocking creating a monolithic, trackless design. Grillz™ Solid wood provides the rich grains and subtle tones that only nature can create. Grillz™ is factory finished with a clear or stained finish. See Finishes for selection guide. Material Grillz™ material is solid wood and can be stained or treated with a class one (0-25 flame spread) fire retardant coating if required by code.      Western Highland Hemlock      Other species may be available upon request Dowel The dowel connection maintains flatness and uniform spacing while minimizing warping and twisting due to the absorption of moisture over time. Alaskan Cypress has been chosen as the material for the dowel because of its inherent resistance to moisture, while maintaining straightness and stability. Wood Specie Western Highland Hemlock is the recommended specie for Grillz™. Hemlock is a member of the fir family. It is similar in appearance to White Fir, with a tighter grain. This wood in indigenous to the western slopes of the Cascade Mountain Range. Hemlock has excellent staining characteristics to simulate the look of other wood specie. Panel Sizes The standard Grillz™ module width is nominally 12" wide. Panels are available in standard lengths of 8 feet. Custom applications my be requested. Reveal / Acoustics The Grillz™ reveal with a 1" thick, 3lbs. density standard black face fiberglass can achieve improved acoustical performance. With this acoustical blanket above, an NRC of .80 can be achieved. Actual test results may be available for analysis, upon request from qualified professionals. Plenum The Grillz™ system requires almost no plenum depth. The panels are direct mount to tee-bar suspension, or to other backing. Utilities Fire Sprinklers, lighting fixtures and speakers may be located within a Grillz™ panel. Field cut holes for these utilities as required. Seal cut edges. Light fixture adapter plates (optional) may be provided if specified. Test Reports Ceilings Plus provides the suspension system for Grillz™ wood ceiling systems to meet ASTM 635, ASTM 636 and typical local building code requirements. Test reports for suspension system and finish performance are available upon request. Where specified, Class I finish 0-25 Flame Spread as tested in ASTM E84, can be provided.
