LUMINOUS DOME CEILING SYSTEM

PART 1 — GENERAL

1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract including General and Supplementary Conditions.

1.02 SUMMARY

Work Included
Factory finished Luminous Dome ceiling consisting of suspension and other required components necessary to complete and operated the ceiling system. All items not specifically described in other Sections of these specifications but required for a complete and operable system shall also be included.

Accessories:
Provide all other necessary items including devices for attachments to overhead construction, secondary members, splines, splicers, connecting clips, wall connectors, wall angles and all other devices required for a complete installation.

1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.04 SUBMITTALS

The following submittals shall be required:

B. Manufacturers Data:
Submit manufacturers product specifications and installation instructions for the Luminous Dome ceilings.

C. Samples:
Submit a full size ceiling panel a minimum of 12" long with an attached suspension system member in the specified finish.

E. Shop Drawings:
Provide properly dimensioned shop drawings showing ceiling layout. Show all locations, markings, quantities, materials, sizes and shapes and indicate all methods of connecting, anchoring, fastening, bracing and attaching to Work in other trades.

PART 2 — PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS

A. Project design is based on materials and systems of Ceilings Plus, Los Angeles, CA 800-822-3411, www.ceilingsplus.com.

Other manufacturers must be approved prior to the bid in written form, by the architect. Specified manufacturer's standard of quality and manufacturing tolerances shall be criteria for evaluating “equivalent” product.

2.02 METAL CEILING PANELS

Finish:
Standard factory applied finish on exposed surfaces, color to be selected by the Architect.

2.03 SUPPORTING GRID

D. Tolerances: Maximum deviation of the completed ceilings from level shall not exceed 1/8" in 10' when measured with a straightedge placed at any location on the finished surfaces. Maximum deviation shall not exceed 1/4" from level in any area or room.

PART 3 — EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION

A. General Installation:

1. Materials shall be installed in strict accordance with procedures recommended by the manufacturer and requirements of agencies having jurisdiction. All materials for this section shall be from a single source ceiling manufacturer with minimum 5 years experience with products of the nature specified.

2. Attach supporting channels of adequate strength to construction above by approved connection method according to local building codes.

3. The contractor responsible for the work of this section shall be qualified and experienced in the performance of this work and done so for no less than a period of 5 years.

B. Product Handling

1. Delivery: Deliver metal ceiling components to job site in unopened containers identified with product manufacturer’s name, trade name and other applicable identification.

2. Storage: Store all ceiling materials in dry and protected locations until installation.

3. Remove protective film material from panels only when space is completely clean and dust free of airborne particles. Cotton white gloves shall be used for final installation.

4. Remove and replace units that have been damaged or cannot be satisfactorily cleaned to the owner's or architect's acceptance, at no additional cost to the owner. To clean materials follow manufacturer's written cleaning procedures.

C. Maintenance

1. Maintenance instructions, as written by the manufacturer, are to be left with the building owner.

Grid Structure:
Pre-cut T-bars, clips or bolt assemblies as required for complete dome system.

Diffusers:
Flat matte extruded opal white acrylic. Precut to fit openings.

Installation:

Completed ceilings shall be level, within the tolerances specified ( as approved by Architect)

Seismic bracing, as required, shall be installed in conformance of local building codes.
