PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS

A. Project design is based on materials and systems of Ceilings Plus, Los Angeles, CA 800-822-3411, www.ceilingsplus.com

Other manufacturers must be approved prior to the bid in written form, by the architect. Specified manufacturer's standard of quality and manufacturing tolerances shall be criteria for evaluating "equivalent" product.

2.02 METAL LIGHT COVES

A. Metal light cove, "Corniche®" by Ceilings Plus.

1. Light cove panels shall be formed in adequate thickness and factory formed to specified dimensions.

2. Finish to match architect's sample. Finish to be selected from manufacturer's standard color charts unless otherwise specified.

3. Light cove panels are to be die formed from a single sheet of .040" minimum aluminum and formed with an integral return edge on all panel sides. Objectionable deflection will not be tolerated. No indentations, marks or defacing of the exposed surface of the metal ceiling panel will be allowed. Provide metal end closures where panels do not abut to soffit, walls or end walls.

4. Perforations per architect selection. Panels to have a solid margin, non perforated, on all sides.

5. Diffusers. (Optional) Luminous opal acrylic lens. Provide and install .040" thick translucent opal white acrylic shield to prevent view of fluorescent lamps.

B. No fasteners of any kind shall be visible on exposed face surfaces of light cove panels or mounting hardware.

C. The light fixtures shall be 100% accessible. Every panel must be removable. Progressive panel access is not acceptable. Hinge assemblies to be mounted to every panel for downward access, without potential for damage to panel face or hinge assembly.

2.03 SUPPORTING SYSTEM

1. Attach panels to walls at elevation indicated. Use approved mounting methods to assure integrity of attachment. Follow manufacturers recommendation unless otherwise directed by the architect.

2. Additional supporting angle system shall consist of straight, factory formed parts in adequate thickness, to support loads. Finish angle, if exposed, to match modular cove panels.

3. Hanger attachments as required.

4. Tolerances: Maximum deviation of cove panels from edge to edge in width shall not exceed 1/8" in 10' when measured with a straightedge placed at any directional location on the finished surfaces. Maximum deviation shall not exceed 1ž4" from level in any area or room.
